Agile Dayton has been around a while and there are a few hundred of us on Meetup now. It's free, it's informal, and nobody checks your credentials at the door.

Who it's for

Scrum Masters, Product Owners, developers, designers, coaches, managers, and people who got handed an agile team last month and are still working out what that means. Some folks have been doing this for fifteen years and some walked in off a job posting that used the word. Both are welcome and both learn something.

You don't have to work at a tech company. A lot of what we talk about is just how work moves through a group of people, and every industry in Dayton has that problem.

What a night looks like

We get there a little early, eat something, and catch up. Then somebody who actually does the work walks us through something they tried, and we ask a lot of questions. It's usually done by eight and a few people stay after to keep talking.

Most months we're in person somewhere around Dayton. Some months we're online, usually when the topic or the speaker makes that the better call.

Who runs it

Agile Dayton is run by Liz Rettig and a co-organizer, and we do it because Dayton is a better place to work when the people doing this work know each other. We both have day jobs in this field, but that's not what this group is for. Agile Dayton isn't a sales channel and we'd rather it never felt like one.

Want to help run it? There's always more to do than two people can do, and hosting, finding speakers, and greeting people at the door are all real jobs. Say hello and tell us what you'd want to take on.

What we expect from everybody

Be good to each other. Ask real questions, including the ones you think are too basic, because somebody else in the room has the same one and hasn't said it yet. Don't use the Q and A to sell something or to relitigate a fight from your own office.
